Lara Carlson and Michael Lawrence publish in βClinical Interventions in Agingβ
The publication, titled βInfluence of the Flo-Dynamics Movement SystemΒ© intervention on measures of performance in older persons,β discusses a study in which subjects aged 61-79 years participated in the Flo-Dynamics Movement SystemΒ© (FDMS), which consists of eight movements with a water-filled device; in this case, the Wun-Joβ’ trainer. Measures of strength, flexibility, and balance were assessed pre-training and after eight weeks of training for 30 minutes, three times per week.
Carlson and Lawrence concluded that FDMS training provides a safe alternative to traditional exercise and offers an effective strategy to increase functional ability in the elderly.
