Tom McLaughlin proclaims, β€œWe are all immigrants” in Bangor Daily News piece

Thomas McLaughlin

Thomas McLaughlin, M.S.W., Ph.D., professor in the 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν School of Social Work, wrote a piece for the Bangor Daily News titled, β€œWe are all immigrant and we all have stories to tell.”

McLaughlin provided commentary on people coming together and taking action in the face of major changes to federal policy, particularly immigration policy. He discussed conversations with people about the stories of immigration within each of their histories.

β€œWe are all immigrants, and we all have stories of immigration in our family histories,” McLaughlin wrote. β€œWhatever your relationship to immigration happens to be, it is important to share that story with strangers. Through open discussion we can find a common voice that will carry the slogan β€˜we are all immigrants,’ and that common voice can then be translated into the rally collective.”
