Kathy Davis, M.S., registrar of the 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν, recently served as a co-presenter at a virtual conference of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

Davis gave the presentation β€œSquare Peg in a Round Hole? Adapting Systems and Processes for Professional Schools within Universities” with three other academic administrators: Celeste Fowles Nguyen, Ed.D., registrar of the Stanford University School of Medicine; Wendy Finch, M.A., registrar of the University of Arizona College of Medicine; and Martha Trujillo, M.P.A., director of financial aid at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

The presentation identified the many challenges and opportunities when providing registrar services at a professional school/college within a larger university. The presenters shared process differences and improvement approaches used when analyzing new and existing student records systems, related procedures, and business practices.

β€œNothing in my past experience as a registrar prepared me for the challenges involved in overseeing a health professions school/college,” Davis reflected. β€œBeing encouraged to co-present with Celeste, Wendy, and Martha was an amazing experience. I have learned so much from each of these women that I can directly apply to my work here at 911±¬ΑΟΝψΊμΑμ½ν.”

The AAMC leads and serves the academic medicine community to improve the health of people everywhere. Founded in 1876 and based in Washington, D.C., the AAMC is a nonprofit association dedicated to transforming health through medical education, health care, medical research, and community collaborations.
